Types of Membership
The CSPA welcomes three types of membership:
CSPA Professional Member
CSPA Professional Members are individuals who meet the CSPA Membership Requirements. As well, they have professional liability insurance either through the CSPA (see Insurance for summary of insurance plan available and insurance application form) or another organization offering a $2,000,000 coverage plan.
Student Members
Student members are students or young professionals who have an interest in applied sport psychology and who may be training towards achieving the membership requirements with the CSPA. A student can maintain student membership up to 1 year post graduation. After that time period, in order to maintain membership status with the CSPA the student member must apply to be a professional member.
Associate Members
Associate members are individuals who meet the CSPA Membership requirements who temporarily are not practicing, and did not purchase professional liability insurance at the time their membership was approved for reasons of maternity leave and/or for other personal reasons. Once they resume their practice and secure a minimum of $2,000,000 in professional liability insurance, they will be become a Professional Member. A member can maintain associate member status for a maximum of 3 years.

CSPA Professional Members
As a CSPA Professional Member, you will benefit from interacting, learning, and staying in contact with other professionals practicing sport psychology in Canada. You will play an integral role in this network of professionals and be invited to attend an annual conference that provides opportunities for professional development. You may also have the privilege of mentoring or supervising students completing an internship to fulfill the requirements of the CSPA.
CSPA Student Members
As a CSPA student member striving to develop your knowledge and skills, you will appreciate being part of this association. You will have the opportunity to interact and work with skilled professionals in formal and informal settings. You will be in regular contact with many professionals who may assist you in your professional development and officially mentor or supervise your internship work. Creating a support network early in your career will prove to be exceptionally rewarding. As a CSPA student member, you will be encouraged to attend and present at an annual student-based conference to gain experience as a speaker and participate in professional development workshops.
Rates CSPA Professional Member Annual CSPA membership fees are $75 Canadian dollars.
CSPA Student Member Annual CSPA student membership fees are $40 Canadian dollars.
CSPA Associate Member Annual CSPA membership fees are $75 Canadian dollars.
